I want to share some thoughts with you.
I nijured myself just recently – only on my foot, nothing to worry about. Because I was stuck in bed most of the time, my daughter and my son came and helped me with everything I needed.
It made me think about the people who are really stuck at home and can’t do very much for themselves. My heart went to them, my mind was full of painful thoughts about them.
I was lucky. My 2 children are very artistic, and they are generous and sensitive and loving. So I knew how lucky I was in my life. I wanted to go to those people and say to them “come on, get up and do something for yourself!” I didn’t want to stay in my bed. I really wanted to walk. My mind was saying “yes you can!” but my body was saying “no, you cannot.”
All of us who have the strength to walk and think and do enough to get by day to day, I want to tell us we have to help each other. If there is any way we can be a friend to each other and reach out to them who cannot, let’s get together and do something about those people who are our age and want to talk, want to tell their stories.
Pain or joy or nothing.
I don’t want to expect the 2nd generation will take care of us with our problems, I want them to know we are also trying to be healthy and independent. It doesn’t happen all the time but we try.
I know there are some organizations somewhere that do these things. If you know those orgs and the time is right for me, let me know if you know something like this.
